Bug Description

I frequently have notifications that do not disappear after being shown. This is particularly prevalent with power management notifications. Most of the time when I wake my computer from suspend, I see the following notification at the top: "Automatic suspend - Computer will suspend very soon because of inactivity." that never goes away. Presumably, this was shown before my computer went to sleep, and should have disappeared but didn't. I have to either click on the notification, or click on the time to open the notification menu to get it to disappear. Occasionally, the same behaviour occurs with other, random notifications.

This is a long-standing issue for me, that I'm just now getting around to reporting. I'm on 17.10, gnome-shell 3.26.2-0ubuntu0.1, and running the gnome-session (not Ubuntu). I don't know if the issue is present on Gnome 3.28, but plan to find out once 18.04 final is released.

Strange, I didn't have this in 17.10 nor 18.04 before it was released. But now I do have this problem.

Not sure what is causing this. Could it be one of the shell extensions maybe?

The gnome bug is only about the "automatic suspend" notifications. However, for me power notifications also do not disappear when I plug in my power cable.

Should I file a new bug? hackel, can you run apport-bug please?

The suspend notification never goes away; also there is a " x " button but instead of closing the popup when you click on it the "settings" will open up.

Hello, I think I just got this bug.

System: 18.04.5 LTS
Header's version: linux-headers-5.4.0-54-generic

I don't know what I did to reproduce it.

The gnome notifications can't be closed, even by clicking on the X or do not disappear.

Right before, I was doing a system update with new headers. Then I rebooted, and I got issues regarding pcieport for about 20 minutes. Rebooted multiple times, and then, it went back normal except the notifications...

I think you can deactivate the notification from the system's settings, then reboot, it should not annoying you, but it's annoying to not having the notification anymore :/

Hello, me again.

I just did another update with headers (actually 5.4.0-58-generic).
I put back notifications from settings before rebooting, and it seems to working perfectly now.

I did apt autoremove after reboot, while I did it before the reboot the first time (cf my post #7).

In Ubuntu 20.04 I had the problem that the automatic suspend notification didn't disappear moving the mouse. I had to literally close the pop up by clicking on the X. I noticed that in Power Settings, "Dim Screen When Inactive" was turned off. I tried to turn it on, and now the pop up disappear by moving the mouse.

The only way I find to close it is pressing Alt+F2 then typing 'restart' command.
