gnome-screenshot captures the screen image from the past

Bug Description
When gnome-screenshot is invoked, whether from the command line or via the Print Screen key, it does not capture the current x output, but rather it captures it as it looked in the past.
A like irrelevant error message from the command line reads:

The attached screenshot was captured while this window was in focus, at the time of 23:51, when Print Screen was initiated, the screen quickly flashed back to the state that was captured in the screenshot, the screen flashed and the screenshot was captured, and then the display output returned to normal. Note the time of the screenshot: 23:20 - over a half hour ago.
This is typically caused by AMD's proprietary driver, fglrx. Do you have it installed?
