Hi, i had this problem, but runing on a X86 architecture. Just clicked the scann button and it crashed.

It was fine in 9.04.

Steps to reproduce:
-> Open Gnome Scan
-> Select scanner (in my case HP C4480)
-> Select "US Letter" in the dropdown
-> Crash!
