Places menu in gnome looks incosistent

by default there are no icons in menus in gnome, because of this the places menu is quite inconsistent, this was the first thing that me and my wife mentioned and left unpolished feeling.

We could get some proper order[move the separators] like what we discussed on the irc.

The arrangement of the options need to be considered.

I suggest that the menu be rearranged like this:

    Search for Files…
    Recent Documents >
    ----
    [places]
    ----
    Network
    ----
    Connect to Server…

A thing to think over. Is this is a regression? I even have Jaunty running and all the three icons are showing.

This bug is an upstream one and it would be quite helpful if somebody experiencing it could send the bug the to the people writing the software. You can learn more about how to do this for various upstreams at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream.

I would really send the bug to the people who are writing the software. But who are the people??? Where can I send it to???

I noticed also that its caused by the theme. I don't know which one, but in my lucid, somehow there are icons by all entries.
I think I got it through an update, but I don't know which one.

Thank you for bringing this bug to our attention. However, a paper cut should be a small usability issue, in the default Ubuntu install, that affects many people and is quick and easy to fix. So this bug can't be addressed as part of this project.

 - Not a papercut anymore, as Unity will be the default in Ubuntu 11.04 , and there is no gnome-panel places menu.

Don't worry though, this bug has been marked as "Invalid" only in the papercuts project.
