Why is this assigned as Wishlist? I think having fake transparency in a composite window manager is actually a bug, when you can use true transparency.

It would be nice if it really was trnasparent, even without a compositing manager.

Sorry about the duplicate, it's pretty hard to find what other people describe it as. I did look.

It shouldn't be on wishlist - it's a bug, either for Compiz or Gnome Panel - I am thinking the latter, because Compiz transparency works flawlessly elsewhere, but perhaps gnome-panel isn't utilizing it properly.

It should be noted that the obvious solution is to add RGBA to it, the way this guy did: http://www.cimitan.com/blog/2008/11/16/murrine-needs-a-laptop-status-of-rgba-murrine-projects/

So far it does not work in Karmic.

This has nothing to do with adding RGBA or compositing this is a problem of the radiance-ambience theme. Human-theme (for example) has not this problem.

Just like unimatrix said, to add RGBA is the obvious solution.

Hey, this bug has been present for over 2 years or more! Why don't we have a solution, like for gnome-terminal??
