Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

When adding a new launcher to the panel via, say, Applications->Accessories->Calculator, right clicking, and saying "Add this launcher to panel", the panel tries to find the most-left free spot to drop the launcher.

If you have an expandable applet (like the window list applet) on the left, it will be squished as small as possible. The correct behavior would be to only squish it as much as needed to add the new launcher.

There's an upstream bug for this with a patch, but I'm also adding a Jaunty debdiff here.

the change seems to be a minor detail and not worth the upstream delta there, unsubscribing the sponsor team for now until upstream decide on the change, let we know if you disagree and thinks that's something really useful

Yeah, that's fine. I agree it's a minor improvement, and a bug a user is unlikely to hit.
