Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-control-center

If I set a custom web browser in the Preferred Applications capplet, the setting isn't properly saved when I hit close.

The custom setting is used, but then when I go back into Preferred Applications, the custom command is gone, and if I close it again the custom browser is no longer launched.

This problem can be duplicated by:
1. go to system->preferences-> Preferred Applications
2. in the web browser dropdown, choose "Custom"
3. type in a command such as "/usr/bin/firefox-3.5 %s" (or whatever you choose)
4. click 'close'
5. open a link in another application (such as thunderbird or pidgin) which uses gnome's preferred applications. It will use the specified custom command, as expected.
6. Go to system->preferences->Preferred Applications. The dropdown selection is still "custom", but the command is now blank.

This is in Karmic.

I experience this behavior as well, however, it does not open the custom browser- it opens Firefox 3.0 when I specified 3.5. I was clicking on changelog links in the Update Manager.
