My steps were basically: Install through gnome-app-install, try to start awn, concluding that it won't work without compiz, trying to uninstall through gnome-app-install.
So obviously a bug in some way, probably dependendecy handling then.
Adding gnome-app-install.

This package has been removed from Ubuntu. Closing all related bugs.
Changed in gnome-app-install (Ubuntu): | |
status: | New → Invalid |
Thanks for the bug report.
As the message say, avant-window- navigator can't be remove with add/remove menu because there is some depends on it than can't be handle by gnome-app-install (the software behind Add/Remove menu). Please use Synaptic to remove it. If you think it's a bug anyway, please report a bug against gnone-app-install instead.
