Bug Description

I very often miss the initial notification popup when I receive a new message, and so would like a way to quickly and easily see the subject and sender of a new message without opening my new mail client. Perhaps the "Inbox" menu item could be made into a submenu which contains the 5 most recent message subjects or something similar? I used to use the mail-notification applet and was able to hover over the icon to see the new messages in a tooltip. I know this isn't possible with a notifier, but hopefully we can come up with another solution.

Also, when you click on the subject/header, it should bring you to the actual Gmail message URl, and not to the inbox.

When I receive a new mail I hear the sound that I selected in the configuration, the envelope becomes green but I don't see any notification. I only see a notification after a fresh login.

What I'm doing wrong?

I just came here to report this bug. I am alerted of new mail by the sound notification and color change of envelope to green, but there is no pop up.
