Wastes battery by waking too often

Bug Description

gm-notify.py v0.10.2 generates 10 wake ups a second with or without internet access available. This contributes to draining my laptop's battery. I now have to kill it when going to battery mode and restart on switching to a/c. It would be nice:

1. To reduce wakeups altogether
2. Detect that no route is available and enter into power-saving mode, since internet access is not always on.

Top causes for wakeups:
  29.2% ( 43.9) [iwlagn] <interrupt>
26.3% ( 39.6) [kernel scheduler] Load balancing tick
  10.8% ( 16.3) [extra timer interrupt]
   9.8% ( 14.8) [HDA Intel] <interrupt>
   0.2% ( 0.3)D indicator-apple
   6.6% ( 9.9) gm-notify.py

it seems to be fixed in the upstream but I don't know if the changes are in ubuntu yet. Will leave this open as confirmed
