Bug Description

Hi,

My university has a firewall that blocks usual jabber connections. I use empathy's SSL option successfully and connect to Google Chat on port 443. It would be nice if gm-notify had an option to do the same.

Thanks,
Haggai

will add this... Is there any reason not to use Port 443 on every connection attempt?

I don't know. The default on empathy didn't use that as well, so maybe they know the reason.

Change title since this issue seems to be about the port as TLS is already being used.

Doesn't connect to gmail, though pidgin and empathy do this. It seems, there would be great to allow/disallow SSL connection in configuration, because empathy doesn't connect through port 443 and SSL switched on in settings at the same time at my work.

Hi All;

I was experiencing the same issue(stuck behind a corporate firewall) and so I hacked the copy of gtalk.py to use port 443. Please look at the patch below to see the details. Of, course you'd probably want to either make this configurable and/or make it a fall back option.
