do this:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gloobus-dev/gloobus-preview
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install gloobus-preview
sudo apt-get upgrade

and then try running

gloobus-preview /path/to/some/file --debug

And see if it works ;)

Thanks!

I've just installed Ubuntu 10.10 and tried to install Gloobus Preview from the PPA and I have this exact same problem. Gloobus Preview used to work just fine in Ubuntu 10.04:

just wondering, wouldn't be better provide separated packages for xcf and
psd loaders, since those libraries are not really part of gloobus-preview
project?
those who do not use GP could also use those packages

maybe but Jordi should rewrite the autotools then to edit the install procedure.
For gloobus-preview it wouldn't make a difference as people want this kind of stuff working out of the box we would have to add the plugins packages as dependencies.

People who use our ppa are doing so for gloobus-preview, so i don't think it would make a difference. If we were talking about larger repositories or official one indeed it would be the best solution. (like AUR for archlinux ;) )

The custom gdk-pixbuf loaders have been removed from the latest code. We use ImageMagick instead.
