PS3 Media Server is a DLNA compliant Upnp Media Server for the PS3, written in Java, with the purpose of streaming or transcoding any kind of media files, with minimum configuration. It's backed up with the powerful Mplayer/FFmpeg packages.

There is already a PPA, however it is not updated for saucy:

I use this software to stream (HDLNA) movies to computer, basically, I'm
able to to play movies by simply using the TV remote without further
inter-action at the computer.
At the time I found it, it was the only non commercial one able to place
subtitles in any kind of movie.
