I can confirm that I see this issue too. I'm running gschem 1.8.2 on two Ubuntu systems, one is a desktop running xubuntu 16.04 and the other is a laptop running xubuntu 18.04. The crashes seem much more frequent on the laptop than on the desktop.

In many cases the crash occurs when one tries to exit from gschem, which is less of a nuisance anyway. Often there is a delay of several seconds after hitting 'Quit' and then it segfaults.

I've not noticed any particular when the crashes occur (except as noted above, when exiting) but I will try and see if there's any repeatable way of producing them.

I believe this issue has been fixed in gEDA/gaf 1.10.0.

If you experience crashes in a more recent version of gschem, please open a new issue. It would be very helpful if you could give a series of actions that lead to gschem crashing and/or a stack trace or core dump. (If your distribution disables core dumps by default, you can enable them for the rest of the shell session with "ulimit -c unlimited").

released in gEDA/gaf 1.10.0
