The settings button in Elementary apps seems too different from the other toolbar icons

Shouldn't the settings icon be replace by another one that blends better with the toolbar ?

You mean the gear icon? I think it fit very well in the toolbar and it is designed to do so.

The Gear icon fits well in the tools icon set, but IMHO :

- He's the only icon from this set used in those three apps
- He look a lot like prior linux classic gear icons

Actually this gear icon (and maybe midori fav icon) was the first thing that I thought was out of place while watching elementary design UI for the first time. It was popping from the interface while the rest seemed really coherent. I discovered your work and this issue with this article : http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2014/04/elementary-os-isis-video-demo-speed .

I thought it would be replaced during the alpha process.

Why I think it's bad that it looks so different from the rest of the UI ?

Mostly because it may grab the user attention, while it's just a third party action button.

I think this is definitely a personal opinion, because don't think this icon grabs more attention than others icons in the toolbar. To me it looks as important as other icons, and for the end user is probably to be like that because it has also to be immediately recognizable as a "settings" menu. Again, i think it fit really well for the use and Daniel or whoever designed it did a good job, so i'll mark this report as an Opinion.

Ok. As I said it's not a problem of good or bad design, but more of
coherence with the other elements of the toolbar.

I don't have any objections about the status change since it is an opinion.
I just thought it should be shared.
