Bug Description

I'm using Geany for the first time and I love it.

One feature I'd like to see, is one that I see in a lot in IDEs: the ability to double-click a tab to maximize its size.

Typically, such a feature would hide or overlay other panels so that the double-clicked tab can utilize the most possible screen real estate from within the application.

This is a toggling type feature: double-clicking the tab again would return the text-editor back to it's default view that Geany offers.

UPSTREAM BUG: https://sourceforge.net/p/geany/bugs/1063/ (LP is refusing the link ATM)

After investigating a little further, I can see that this feature would be very easy to add.

All that would have to be done is this:

When someone double-clicks a tab, the program could (behind the scenes) uncheck any of these checked options from the view menu:

- View > Show Message Window
- View > Show Toolbar
- View > Show Sidebar

Upon this double-click, the program should take note of the state of these options before doing the un-checking.

Then, on the next double-click of a tab (any tab), it could then toggle back to the previous settings.

I filed a ticket upstream here:

But, I was unable to associated the bug tracker with this report.

There already exists a feature for this:
Geany > Preferences > Interface > Double-clicking hides all additional widgets

But that feature is too extreme for me. I still want my tabs to show after I maximize a tab. I was unable to achieve this.

Thanks.

Hmm, looks like a Launchpad bug. I think Sourceforge.net changed their bug URL
scheme recently.

Hi Lonnie,

We would like to see an example of this feature. Which IDEs have you seen this feature a part of?

It looks more like a feature request to be added instead of a bug. Changing status to Invalid.

Going ahead and marking as triaged. It is up to upstream to decide if they will accept it or not.
