Bug Description

Binary package hint: gcc-4.2

see upstream http://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=36235

Any chance to move to current gcc4.3 in 8.04? 4.2 looks to have some problems with aliasing and as 4.3 is already "current" and works for me, it would help me. Anyone knows 4.3 would break something serious?

I hit the problem while compiling TheIDE from ultimate++ (downstream report: http://www.ultimatepp.org/forum/index.php?t=msg&goto=15905 ), so this is quite critical for me personally, but I'm probably quite a minority.

hardy has a build of gcc-4.3 in the gcc-snapshot package, you could either use this, or downgrade optimization options? 4.3 won't be part of hardy or hardy-proposed.
