Bug Description
Kate 3.5.1. (KDE 4.5.1) offers search&replace of text using regular expressions.
First searching for \t and replacing by \n works fine, but when you search for \n after, Kate finds no occurences.
Similar errors have been reported for several years and repeatedly, and often:
(1) work-arounds were suggested using other software (sic!) or
(2) reasons stated why it is difficult to fix this error in Kate.
ad (1) When other software is able to perform this task, why isn't the appropriate search&replace source code imported in Kate?
ad (2). if Kate has the option using regular expressions, users expect it to work.
Software like Textpad is much more transparant / predictable using regular expressions.
If it isn't possible to fix this, why not remove the option using regular expressions in Kate?
This should lessen the amount of bug reports for Kate on this topic
