Change wallpaper via secondary-click

I know that elementary does not really use the desktop by default. But for every other operating system I can think of, when a user wants to change their wallpaper, resolution, or other appearance setting, they right-click on the desktop and change their wallpaper from there.

Should there be some sort of desktop right-click functionality?

Marking as won't fix. There are no plans to add a classical "desktop"

There should be a desktop right-click functionality because it is more efficient for changing wallpapers, resolution, etc. What they could do is when you click a menu item, for instance, to change the wallpaper it would go to the wallpaper plug in Switchboard.

As a person who changes wallpapers on a daily or semi-daily basis, I do not like that elementary is removing options that should be there. In a case scenario for changing wallpapers one would have to either go to Slingshot, find Switchboard, find the wallpaper plug, and then change wallpapers. Another way would be have Switchboard in Plank but that would be more steps and less efficient than right clicking on the wallpaper.

Marking as Opinion/Wishlist. The bug report isn't for a classic desktop, but to allow secondary-clicking the wallpaper to change it. I'm not opposed to adding that feature as it's extremely commonly-requested, seen in most other OSes, and not really against our philosophy.

Again, this isn't to do with icons, but would likely be a feature for Pantheon Wallpaper if it gets revived. All it'd have to do would be to call the Desktop plug in Switchboard.

- Change Wallpaper..
- About
+ Open Terminal
+ Recent Files (5 last used recent files)
- File1.png
- File2.txt
- ...
