Bug Description
Apps like f.lux and Redshift exist for Linux; however, both programs haven't been updated in years. This isn't necessarily bad, but from what I've heard Redshift and possibly other apps do not function on Wayland.
GNOME 3.24 has a new "Night Light" feature, which seem to be the only app of its kind that works on Wayland. It has been released for a while now, and should make its way to Ubuntu 17.04 this April. Perhaps the same code could be used for the next Gala release.
Either way, I don't have any deal-breaking problems using 3rd-party apps to reduce the blue light on my screen. However, f.lux still has its quirks. For example: if I put my laptop to sleep at 3 PM (Afternoon), and wake it up at 7 PM (Evening/Night), the screen does not change color until I log in. I'm not sure if this is a limitation of the app or not, but it's darn annoying.
