workspace switcher doesn't rescale the view when a workspace is displayed on a different resolution (e.g., external monitor)

Bug #1483181 reported by Vincenzo Pii on 2015-08-10

Bug Description

A workspace is initially displayed on a primary monitor with a certain resolution, for example, an external display.

The workspace switcher view will fit precisely for this monitor.

When the primary display is changed (e.g., unplug the laptop from the HDMI cable) and workspace switcher is triggered again (HOME + DOWN), the view will keep the same size as before, causing one of these two effects:

1. If the first primary screen was small and the second primary screen is big, there will be a huge dark margin around the workspace switcher view, but the tool will still be usable to move windows from one desktop to another
2. If the first primary screen was big and the second primary screen is small, the workspace switcher view will not entirely fit into the display, making it impossible to rearrange windows into desktops (the icons at the bottom are hidden).

Using latest elementary OS version (elementary OS 0.3 Freya) with latest available updates installed.

This bug also surfaces when running elementary os in a vm as the vm resizes the workspace sizes don't. So after going full-screen my primary workspace shows very small compared to the "new/available" workspace (plus sign).

For a very fast workaround, go to the Dock settings (system settings -> Desktop -> Dock) and toggle the icon size from normal to large and back to normal (or vice-versa if you use large icons).
