Bug Description

It would be nice to be able to switch workspaces with a 3 or 4 finger swipe gesture.

bonus points if there's 1:1 finger tracking.

We can probably look at Unity code for this and clone it.

One of the things I envy most about OSX, this would be really really nice.

It's silly that the 12.04 distribution's Unity interface "reserves to itself gestures with 3 and 4 gestures making impossible to Touchégg make use of it. ".
basically making it impossible for people who want to try and enable their own 3 or 4 finger gestures.
I for one am working with a z380 lenovo laptop with a synaptics clickpad and cannot seem to enable 3 finger gestures in Unity.

Synaptics touchpads don't seem to support any gestures that involve more than two fingers, see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Multitouch

I would also like to see this. How nifty would it be to change workspaces with a three finger swipe?

I really would love to see this! Although I definitely encourage four finger swipe up and maybe four fingers to swipe right and left and change workspaces. Also it needs to be four fingers because I love to use three fingers to move my windows around instead of the click and drag. I use touch egg for window moving but it would be really cool to have this as a native feature.

Or at least have a way to customize it so it is possible to have both. I think this should be a setting added to switchboard like keyboard shortcuts since not all computers have three or finger gesture ability. But for the ones that do four and three are definitely super useful.
