No way to easily find old articles other than search

Currently, if I want to locate an old article that was posted to the Fridge, my only options are to use the arrows at the bottom to go to previous pages or to use the search box. It would be useful if a mini calendar could be displayed in the sidebar that would allow users to view all stories that were posted around a certain date. For instance, clicking on a date in late October or early November would allow a user to see all stories that were posted right after Ubuntu 9.10 was released.

What about using the search box? It doesn't look like the search database is being updated... but if it were this would probably be much easier to locate what you're looking for.

The search box is only useful if you remember what the story you are searching for is about. It does not help if you only remember about when it was publishes.

Instead of a calendar, I think an "archive list" might by better. It would list the back months and enable the user to search the articles in a given month. In other words a whole month of articles would be displayed on one page and let the user scroll through them.

 * On a side note: I'm not sure either of these ideas can be done since our Fridge drupal is rather pieced together. However, we can put in an ticket if we can come to consensus on what we want.

We've switched to WordPress and you are now able to show posts by month with a month dropdown. Is this sufficient?
