Bug Description

Hello

I'm Using ParrotSec wich used Mate as the environment. I need "Folder Color" very much and it doesn't work in ParrotSec at all.
I've tried:

udo ln -s /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/girepository-1.0/Caja-2.0.typelib /usr/lib/girepository-1.0/Caja-2.0.typelib

sudo ln -s /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/girepository-1.0/Caja-2.0.typelib /usr/lib/girepository-1.0/Caja-2.0.typelib

caja -q
but it doesn't work so, please make it compatible with ParrotSec and Mate.

Thanks alot.

Hi, folder color works with caja/mate, I developed it on them.
Please, I would need more info...
Why are you link those directories? :) did you install the python-caja
package?
From where did you got folder color? Version of Caja is 2.0?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Reza,

I downloaded Parrot and I confirm that Folder Color works on it (with Caja).

Install python-caja:
sudo apt-get install python-caja

Download the last package for Caja:
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+archive/primary/+files/folder-color_0.0.86.orig.tar.gz

Move the file folder-color.py to:
/usr/share/caja-python/extensions/folder-color.py

Restart Caja:
caja -q

Could you confirm me that it's working for you? Thanks in advance!

Dear Costales
Hi

I followed your instruction but it doesn't work :(

I linked those directories because of an installation guide for Caja which is here:
http://foldercolor.tuxfamily.org/ (Under Installing for Caja section)

Yeah, I've installed python-caja package, I'm not sure from where did I get folder-color but I think I get it from "foldercolor.tuxfamily.org", also my Caja version is 1.18.5
please tell me if I should upgrade my Caja or something else.

Thank you so so much for your follow up.

Hi,

I didn't reference to those linked directories in the main webpage :O

I was using the presintalled Caja version in Parrot.

I don't know what did you do different, the unique advice in mind is
to remove everything (caja & folder-color & extension) and reinstall
as I indicated.

Best regards.

I have had a similar problem on a vanilla ubuntu installation with the MATE desktop, however I only installed the MATE base not the full desktop with apps.

I think this fails to install python-gobject which is required by folder-color-caja and is obviously not listed as a dependency in the folder-color-caja deb file.

I installed python-gobject, logged out and back in and now foldor coloring appears on theh opop up menus.

Hope that helps
