Bug Description

Ubuntu MATE; After upgrading to Xenial, and installing Nemo via noobslabs' PPA, and installing folder-color-nemo from your PPA, the software doesn't work; Even though I can see the folder colour in Nemo just fine, the option to change the colour isn't available.

The only workaround for this is to set folder colour in Caja. This wasn't a problem in Wily. I will test in 16.04 live later to see if this is a problem with my present installation.

@BlueRainbow: I just tried nemo and it's working, but I have to run nemo -q

Could you try these steps from here?
http://www.webupd8.org/2013/10/install-nemo-with-unity-patches-and.html

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:costales/folder-color
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:webupd8team/nemo
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install nemo python-nemo folder-color-nemo
nemo -q

Reboot PC.
is not working yet? Try these steps too:
sudo ln -s /usr/lib/libpython2.7.so.1 /usr/lib/libpython2.7.so.1.0
sudo ln -s /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libpython2.7.so.1 /usr/lib/libpython2.7.so.1
sudo ln -s /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libpython2.7.so.1 /usr/lib/libpython2.7.so.1
sudo ln -s /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libpython2.7.so.1 /usr/lib/libpython2.7.so.1
sudo ln -s /usr/lib/libpython2.7.so.1.0 /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libpython2.7.so.1.0
nemo -q

Reboot.

Please, tell me if that worked.

I don't know what Noobslab did to break your functionality in Nemo, but I do know that while I was using Wily, Nemo from Wwebupd8 wasn't playing nice with Compiz.

Guess Webupd8 or a dependency developer finally fixed it.

Did it work for you then? :)

Yeah, mark as solved. Though, I wonder; Is the folder-color package from webupd8's PPA your addon with a genericized package name?

Changed in folder-color:
status: New → Invalid
BlueRainbow (bluufoxx) wrote :

I looked, and sweet irony of ironies, installing folder-color from webupd8 enables folder color for Caja but not for Nemo.

Also, I tested multiple times with Noobslab's PPA and theirs is either fundamentally broken in some way or their PPA doesn't handle some of the linking that makes your addon work when installed from your PPA.

In my knowledge, the issue is with python-nemo package, because it is not
in the repository. Then you need to install from a PPA and that PPA has to
be prepared for the right version you are using ;)
A hug and thanks for your feedback.

Actually, i tell a lie; I don't think folder-color is a part of webupd8. I looked, and folder-color is in universe. And for Nautilus (but it shows up in Caja). So I delivered some misinformation.

costales (costales) wrote :

folder-color is in the official repository for Ubuntu.
folder-color-caja is too for caja.

As python-nemo is not in the Ubuntu repositories, folder-color-nemo is not
in the Ubuntu repository.
A hug ;)
