Solver Reordering not to be trusted?

solver/reordering, in particular Reverse Cuthill-McKee is broken? Stephan and Matt suggested this functionality is broken. If so, either a note to this effect should be added to the schema, or it is removed from the schema entirely, or just restricted to a dev branch.
