Bug Description

Binary package hint: texmaker

I installed TexMaker on an amd64 Ubuntu 10.10 release.

The GUI opens up okay.

When I press "New" the computer appears to restart. It's pretty quick, and comes back to the login page. On logging in, it's like it's just restarted (so TexMaker is not open anymore).

When I press "Open", it goes to the open dialogue. I select a .tex file and the same thing happens.

texmaker and texlive were both installed from synaptic package manager.

I can use the terminal to do "pdflatex file.tex", and it works fine. Also Kile and Winefish both are able to perform the pdflatex.

I've looked for this bug, but unsuccessfully!

The installation is very new. I've also installed yWriter5, which involves mono (http://www.spacejock.com/yWriter5_Linux.html).

I am suffering from this bug with similar configurations to OP. Fglrx on 64 bit maveric. I would like to add that this is an Xserver crash not a reboot.

here is the critical part of the dmesg:

if i get time i'll test with the open source drivers at some point and see if the issue persists.

I've managed to reproduce this in other programs, such a lyx it is to do with resizing boxes inside the program and is likely an xserver error.

No valid against texmaker.

Changed in texmaker (Ubuntu):
status: New → Invalid

Absolutely the same bug. I catch it every time i try to create new tex doc or open one. With open drivers this bug do not appear, so i assume this is fglrx trouble. But still, i need 3d acceleration. It is hard to choose between option to work or use my video card with it full potential. OS Ubuntu 10.10, i can confirm that with 10.04 this bug do not appear.
