Description:
(please make a Version for AMD64)
MPEG4IP provides an end-to-end system to explore streaming multimedia. The package includes many existing open source packages and the "glue" to integrate them together. This is a tool for streaming video and audio that is standards-oriented and free from proprietary protocols and extensions.
Provided are a live MPEG-4/
Our development is focused on the Linux platform, and has been ported to Windows, Solaris, FreeBSD, BSD/OS and Mac OS X, but it should be relatively straight-forward to use on other platforms.
Many of the included packages are multi-platform already.
Mp4live only works on Linux.
This code is not intended for end users,
and does not contain executables.
Please read all the legal information to determine if it is suitable for you.
License:
What are the licensing terms associated with this project?
A: Like most modern codecs, MPEG-4 Video and Audio codecs are almost certainly subject to patent royalities. This project does not remove any responsiblity or liability from developers or users of this kit. Similarly, there are a variety of third party packages included in this kit. Each has it's own license. These licenses, and more legal information, can be found in the Documentation. The original code created by the project developers is distributed under the Mozilla Public License.
Notes:
There needs to be some versions available through Synaptic for the AMD64 architecture, which is a good architecture for serious multimedia work.
This looks good for experimental, and beta use.
But some may want to use it for their video kit anyway.
If not adding it now, please keep an eye out for it in future.
Since the program set has several components, it might be handy to release the individual components as they become suitable.
The ability to stream good resolution video over ordinary IP is attractive.
This is a feature request... But we will see what we can do.
