This shouldn't be assigned to notify-osd in Ubuntu, as you're using Fedora. re-assigning to the correct project.

Well, do I need to install Fedora to debug that? ;-) Jokes aside... I'll get to the bottom of this. From the first look at it, it looks like a simple fix.

Seems to work here with the latest checkout. But there is a lot of warning for the test.

(Note: Fedora installation got the same host name my Ubuntu 8.10)

The problem still there lots of warning but in version 0.9.9 I can make it correctly and run the test which worked. But when I hit a button to increase the sound the old system notification show that notification not notify-osd notification

Great news! Just tested 0.9.12 version on fedora 11 preview release and it works great but two things are still buggy :

-Size of the notification

For sound notifications, we have a patch in gnome-settings-daemon. I suppose it would work under Fedora if the patch was ported (or, even better, included upstream).

Delilah, if you grab gnome-settings-daemon (under ubuntu using "apt-get source gnome-settings-daemon") you'll find the patch under ./gnome-settings-daemon-2.28.0/debian/patches/16_use_synchronous_notifications.patch

@Mirco,

I'm running Karmic. Following your instructions in #12, I got the patch. At the terminal, I issued the command patch -p2 < 16_use-synchronous_notifications.patch from ~/gnome-settings-daemon-2.28.1/debian/patches>. The command failed because it didn't know which file to patch.

My greater concern is that I don't want to screw up my other sound settings. (My webcam microphone required a patch of its own.) I don't see gnome-settings-daemon-2.28 anywhere else on my system. It is all gnome-settings-daemon-2.0.

Have you any advice?

@Ron: You should not need to patch your system, if you're already under Ubuntu Karmic. The hint regarding the patch location was for Deliah, who tried to get synchronous notifications for mm-keys working under Fedora.
