I have karmic fully updated, and the problem is still here:
$ ps -eaf | grep nm-applet
monica 3875 3744 0 Sep25 ? 00:00:04 nm-applet --sm-disable
facundo 18231 18201 0 09:48 pts/1 00:00:00 grep nm-applet
("monica" is the other user using the system)
