Bug Description
packages suffering from this bug:
knetworkmanager
plasmoid-
Using Ubuntu 9.10 i can not create a functional ad-hoc wireless connection on wlan0.
After creation with networkmanagers found in gnome,KDE iwconfig wlan0 reports the correct essid and mode (ad-hoc)
but connection to it from other computer never works. Also tried 'netgo' application and almost all other gui based network manager programs and none of them worked.
creating the adhoc connection with iwconfig, ifconfig works.
iwconfig wlan0 essid linuxwifi
iwconfig wlan0 mode ad-hoc
ifconfig wlan0 192.168.100.1
I've also tested it under OpenSuse and the same happened.
my device is D-Link Wireless G DWA-510 Desktop which uses rt61pci driver.
Another interesting thing is that putting those commands in a script and running it wont work, unless you run it twice.
the first time you run it nothing happens.
I've also updated rt61pci driver to latest found from linuxwireless.org and same thing happens.
It seems to me the some delay between command are necessary (If gui tools use iwconfig or ifconfig).
