Gapless playback

So up till now I've understood that gstreamer doesn't support gapless playback yet, so all the apps that use gstreamer just have to wait.

on the gstreamer mailinglist. It seems to indicate that gapless support will never(?) be added within gstreamer itself and is something that must be done by the individual project:

prerolling a pipeline and hooking it up to some kind of stream switcher. It's a
pipeline topology issue, not a GStreamer issue. For example Flumotion's jukebox
component does gapless playback with 0.8.

So is that the only solution? Or is my source out-dated...

+1 on this feature, it is one of the things that keeps me from switching completely to Exaile...

Fixed in 0.3, im pretty sure, will have to verify before marking it resolved though

Yes, it is indeed implemented in 0.3. turns out playbin2 makes this stuff really easy.

I just tried out the latest (2008-12-03) tarball from the exaile site. It does not play MP3 gapless at least. But then it states version 0.2.99something...

It's not enabled by default because playbin2 still has some issues.
