Currently (in Exaile v0.3.2.2), seeking using the GUI seekbar does not send any xl.event. A "seek" or "position changed" event is needed in the MPRISv2 plugin for the org.mpris.MediaPlayer2.Player.Seeked signal: http://specifications.freedesktop.org/mpris-spec/latest/Player_Node.html#Signal:Seeked

(According to MPRISv2, a "Seeked" signal is only necessary on manual position changes – not when playback progresses normally.)

Fixed with r3984. MPRISv2 is not yet implemented though.

It's not implemented by Exaile itself, but there is a third-party MPRISv2 plugin "Exaile Sound Menu Indicator" which will use this feature.
