Bug Description

Binary package hint: evolution

running post beta2 ubuntu lucid.
evolution has several configuration dialog boxes, which do not fit - even after maximizing - on a netbook screen of 1024x600, and do not offer vertikal scrolls. changing anything in the bottom parts becomes very tricky.

Options and tabs effected are e.g. Mail Preferences -> General (sreenshot attached) , Calendar and Tasks ->General,

while e.g Mail Preferences -> Junk exceeds the screen but already does offer a vertcal scroll bar

for anyone else seeing this, yes you can work around by alt-click-drag the dialog up beyond the top of the screen, then right-click resize dialog downward, but even that procedure is fraught with trouble. Sometimes the window manager is too helpful and tries to help you resize the dialog horizontally and not vertically. ALSO you have to alt-click drag the dialog back down to reach the top again.

It would be SO much easier if Evolution (and other panels with large numbers of options) added scroll bars when the contents are too small to fit the dialog.

It's very nice that the Ubuntu Netbook Edition packagers added the "smarts" so maximus knows not to maximize Evolution's dialogs, but apparently it can't get in there and make the insides more visible. Or could it?

Thanks for the report, that's an old known bug, Evolution is known to have problems with x600 resolutions and the upstream bug is https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=267787 ; we're already tracking that on bug 23810 ; marking this as duplicate, thanks. Please look at the other bug report to see if there is any missing information that you can provide, or to see if there is a workaround for the bug. Additionally, any further discussion regarding the bug should occur in the other report. Please continue to report any other bugs you may find.
