Bug Description

Binary package hint: evolution

When I receive an email with a .doc, .od*, .pdf attachment the button to directly open it is grayed out and not clickable, to see them I have to click on the right arrow and then choose «Open with *».

This is quite annoying and forces the user to a non standard interaction. Everything works fine when the attachment is an image or something else.

ProblemType: Bug
Architecture: amd64
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.04
ExecutablePath: /usr/bin/evolution
Package: evolution 2.26.1-0ubuntu2
ProcEnviron:
 LANG=it_IT.UTF-8
 SHELL=/bin/bash
SourcePackage: evolution
Uname: Linux 2.6.28-15-generic x86_64

Thank you for your bug report. The issue is an upstream one and it would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug the to the people writting the software (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME)

Dario, have you sent this upstream? May you tell us the upstream bugnumber so we can link the bug here? Thanks in advance.

No, I haven't reported it upstream because I wasn't comfortable with gnome bug tracer...

It would be useful if someone reports this upstream who is actually having the problem. If someone else sends this upstream he/she always has to copy the questions and answer from there to here and here to there, which is even less comfortable. So if you are interested in further investigation from the developers you should send this upstream. Thanks.

those things shouldn't be up to users: devs care about upstream and downstream, users don't.
