Evolution indicator 0.2.10 doesn't indicate new mail with evolution 2.30.3 in maverick amd64. It doesn't change color and it does't indicate a new mail in inbox and pop-up doesn't appear.

Subcribing Neil Patel, can you confirm it? I don't have amd64 hw and evo indicator 0.2.10 is working well with evo 2.30.3 for me for monthes.

that's weird, can I have a screenshot with the menu and evolution opened, please?

I think you know that the indicator is only turning green when you have new incoming emails on your inbox and evolution isn't focussed, right?
(which means, when you focus evolution, the number is down to 0)

also, ensure the plugin is visible and activated in your preference.

Thanks :)

Yes, I know how the indicator function. In Lucid 64bit it was all ok. In Maverick (64 bit) the indicator don,t function even if Evolution is minimized. I have try to completely remove and reinstall it but It don't function.
Ah...I have installed Maverick in a partition formatted and I have not upgraded Lucid.

ok, do you get the detection for the email account at least? I mean, does it detect that evolution is registered, running and the account appears in the menu? (also ensure the plugin is still activated on the plugin evolution menu).

Unfortunately, I only have i386 hw there, so it's difficult to debug it remotely.

Can you try to run:
$ dbus-send --print-reply --dest="org.gnome.Evolution" /org/ayatana/indicate org.ayatana.indicate.GetIndicatorList

I run the command:

fabio@fabio-notebook:~$ dbus-send --print-reply --dest="org.gnome.Evolution" /org/ayatana/indicate org.ayatana.indicate.GetIndicatorList
method return sender=:1.94 -> dest=:1.112 reply_serial=2
   array [
      int32 1
   ]
fabio@fabio-notebook:~$

And a screenshot is attached.

ok, so the connection and the plugin is working. It seems that the only issue you have is that the envelope doesn't turn green. Last question before we will wait for Neil's feedback, when you receive a new email in your inbox and evolution is unfocused, do you have the 0 turning to 1 ?

Also, it seems that the theme that you use is sligthely different to the default one there. (the hilight and the text color). Can you confirm it's still the case with the default theme as well? (the color can be overriden by the theme)

When i receive a new mail and evolution is unfocused the inbox voices remaining 0, pop-up (Dbus) doesn't appear and it doesn't change color.
I have only change the hilight text color from white to black and the problem was appear before this change.

thanks to seb128 pointing at it:

there should be an option which maybe will interest you: in edit -> preferences -> mais preferences, ensure that "indicate new messages in the panel" is checked.

I think the issue is wider than just an evolution-indicator issue, I'll mark it as a duplicate to bug #657837 to track it more widely. Please, feel free to comment there.
