Alerts should have an option of either "new email" or "unread email"

I would like to actually see an option of new email or unread email. Or possibly the mail-notification app rolled into this one so it can have a count of unread email at any time.

Or, even having the email count show as:

Mail (0/20)

Where 0 is new and 20 is unread.

Thanks for your feedback. By design, we want to avoid using preferences attached to the menus themselves, but instead would see that better implemented at the application level. In this case, that would be mail-notification's responsibility to offer this option to the user.
