3) What is expected to happen via https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evince/+bug/1094383/+attachment/3469968/+files/pdf3d_sample.pdf is one may do as in Adobe Reader, where if one secondary clicks the object in the PDF, one may click "Enable Content" and rotate it around three-dimensionally.

4) What happens instead is the entire page is treated as one static picture.

WORKAROUND: Use Adobe Reader via WINE.

Christopher, just to be sure we are talking about the same thing: this bug is about rotating/moving the part, like a CAD software would do. (eg you can see behind the part).
If that's what you are able to do, please can you explain how you do it?

YannUbuntu, thanks for the fast response. What I did was open the attached file https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evince/+bug/1094383/+attachment/3469968/+files/pdf3d_sample.pdf and click Edit > Rotate Right/Left and the entire picture rotated.

However, based on your additional comment it sounds like you are expecting it to do as it does in Adobe Reader, where if one secondary clicks the object in the PDF, one may click "Enable Content" and rotate it around three-dimensionally. Would this be what you were expecting? If so, I don't believe that is currently supported by the Evince project.

yes it is what I am expecting. This is why we call them "3D PDF" ;-)

summary: - Evince does not allow to rotate/move 3D pdf
+ Evince does not manage 3D pdf features
