Update translations: 2011-01-05

In working towards more frequent translation updates, I've created a branch which:

1. Creates a script (build/i18n/scripts/update_pofiles) which transfers PO files from a Launchpad translation export bzr branch into a git clone

2. Issues a current update of all of the POT and PO files, based on the use of that script, including new PO files that were added but missed for i18n purposes during previous 2.1 releases.

3. Updates .gitignore with many more of the built directories and files generated by a full localization build

4. Removes references to vandelay.dtd from the i18n Makefile

Please merge all 4 commits from the user/dbs/i18n_update_2012-01-05 branch in the working repo to master.

In addition, please backport 88e8e295bc391f71283535b509410c372bb6b784 into the rel_2_1 branch so that the next 2.1.x release will have updated translations.

Added user/dbs/i18n_update_2012-01-05_2_1 for rel_2_1, as the direct backport from master wanted to result in conflicts.
