Bug Description
The setting "Format Dates with this pattern." (format.date) takes a pattern like "yyyy-MM-dd" or "MMM d, yyyy" for formatting dates throughout the staff client. If given an actual date, like 2011-11-01, it can break dojo calendar widgets in the patron editor, the survey editor, and probably other interfaces.
