Bug Description
This rather unfortunate behavior can be seen in the staff catalog in 3.7.
After submitting a search a progress bar below the search form. If a new search is submitted before the results are received, both sets of search results will be returned and displayed, potentially out of order.
This is pretty easy to demonstrate:
1. Submit a search for a common word that appears in the staff catalog, says 'dogs'
2. Before a response is received search for something that appears on many less records, say 'Leonard Nemoy'
The results of the search submitted in step 2 will display almost instantaneously, but at some point they will be replaced by the results of the search submitted in step 1. The search form will still show the query from the second search.
