Bug Description

Evergreen 3.5.3ish

We have a library using the Evergreen self-check module. On long days, the staff login logs itself out towards the end of the day. It doesn't prompt for the login again until a patron attempts to use it.

It appears that the timeout is using the "Staff Login Inactivity Timeout" library setting. We keep this setting at 6 hours network-wide. For the library, we updated it to 11 hours.

It would be useful to have these settings separate. There may be many cases where the staff login on a self-check should persist longer than that of a traditional staff workstation.

We've had complaints about this with our libraries that use self-check as well.

Changed in evergreen:

In this use case, are staff inputting the evergreen username and password every morning on the self check machines?

Does this happen if the username and password are specified in the URL for the self check interface, to auto login?

We set the login info in the URL and hide the url bar to keep it from being visible... I'm just wondering if that bypasses the issue, or if we still might be hitting the timeout, which may cause a lockup or some other behavior that hasn't been reported to me?

Staff are signing in each morning. I had forgotten the URL could be used for login. I do not believe we have promoted this because it's in plain text.

I have not explicitly tested if the timeout occurs when using the URL to login.

I want to mention related bug 1688107. It would be useful to have more, configurable login types for this purpose and others.
