Removing items from a course does not update item values

Bug Description

In Course Materials, when an item is associated with a course, staff may edit the item's call number, circ modifier, item status and/or shelving location temporarily.  The original values are saved in the asset.course_module_course_materials table.

Items can be disassociated from a course using the "Remove selected" option on the Actions menu. When this action is taken, the call number is correctly updated to its original value.   However, the circulation modifier, shelving location and item status are not updated to their original values.

Note: items may also be disassociated from a course using the "Archive Course" option. If this option is selected, item parameters are correctly updated, as is the call number.

I found with using "Archive Course" that the item status is also not updated, but this may be by design.

Adding a link to bug 1940105, which may explain the difference in behavior between selecting and item and choosing "Remove selected" vs disassociating items using the "Archive Course" option.

Re: Garry's comment above, I would have concerns about reverting an item's status when it is disassociated with a course. For example, a Checked out item should never be reverted to Available when it is removed from a course.

Fixing bug 1940105 should resolve this issue.

I have tested this fix on our server (EG 3-8-0) as follows:

I added multiple items to a course, including barcoded items from the catalog, electronic resources (no items) from the catalog and electronic resources/URLs not in the catalog.

For the barcoded items, I edited the circulation modifier and shelving location. In some cases, I also edited the item status and/or the call number.

Note: edits to call numbers were not saved in the database; instead, the original call number continued to display for the edited item. I have added a new bug report for this issue:

I disassociated barcoded items from the course and found the following:

--The circulation modifiers were reverted to the original values correctly;
--The shelving locations were reverted to the original values correctly;
--If the item status had been edited when the item was associated with the course, the value was NOT reverted. This seems correct since the original item status may no longer be valid

Note: Because the call number edits were not saved to the database, it is not possible to confirm that these values would revert correctly when the item is disassociated from the course.

I disassociated electronic resources (not cataloged) from the course and found the following:

--Records were set to deleted in biblio.record_entry

For all items, whether in the catalog or not, when the item was disassociated from a course:

--A toast displayed indicating that the item had been disassociated from the course
--The item correctly displayed the value “No” for the new “Currently Associated?” flag on the course materials grid

Because I am not able to confirm that call numbers correctly revert when items are disassociated from a course, I cannot sign off on this fix.

Breaking this off from bug 1940105 of which it was marked a duplicate. There are some lingering issues with restoring item values when they are removed from a course:

Status field does not revert to original
Circ modifier does not revert when the item's original circ modifier was NULL

The New Devs group looked at these issues and we came up with a path to resolve them. Note that based on comments on this bug and discussion at New Deve, we will not attempt to revert the Status field.

Branch coming soon.

Tested on Terran's bug squashing server (3.11+) and this appears to be fixed.

In the course materials module I followed these steps to test:
--selected a course
--added an item to a course changing the call number, circ modifier and shelving location
--selected the item
--From the actions menu, I chose the option to "Remove Selected"

The call number and item attributes reverted to their original values

If someone else could confirm, that would be helpful
