Bug Description

Wishlist item:
Throughout the OPAC and TPAC, the verbiage "Place Hold" is used, but in Item Status/Search for Copies by Barcode it says "Request Items" and then has you choose a "Hold Type."

I would like to request that this be changed to "Place Hold" for consistency.

Pros:
consistency of wording

Cons:
the hold types force and recall are not used elsewhere so there's an argument to be made that this is a different function than Place Hold and should have a separate item.

Adding a reference to related bug 1781236. Because the hold options under Request Items don't set notifications, and the options are for "special" types of holds, it could be argued that it's a different function.

That said, I agree that the current label could be improved for consistency. What about something like "Place Item Holds"?

Thanks Michele! That's an excellent point. My request came up because of development work to add Title Hold to the options in the Request Item menu. I will add the referenced bug to the conversation on that development since that may be an issue. We wouldn't want to get too wordy but "Place Hold or Recall Item" might work?

Adding a note that the dev work to add Title Hold here will hook Title Hold up to the regular notifications - it will function like place title hold anywhere else.

Just wanted to put that out there in case it influences the discussion of nomenclature.

I think there is value in keeping this as an item hold only and not adding title hold. For cataloging, I use the different types of holds for different needs. When looking at a bib record in MARC view, I identify the need for any item attached and so pop over to OPAC view to place the title hold. While in holdings view, I see the need to place hold on a specific item or items and use the request item function.

That being said, I would not object to having title hold there if most people would prefer it. I do see changing the wording to Place Item hold to be advantageous.
