Web client: the copy table's Edit link only opens the item editor, not the call number/item editor

Bug Description
Clicking on (edit) next to a barcode in the copy table in the embedded OPAC conveniently opens the item editor. However, it would be helpful if it could open the call number portion of the item editor too. Our cataloger says that this is the main way she goes in to edit call numbers, so it is a pain to click on the "Show Volume/Copy details" button every time.
If some catalogers prefer that only the item attributes portion of the screen opens, I think that this should be settable as a workstation or user setting.

We have also had comments in SCLENDS that a feature/option like this would speed some processes.
For example: at this particular library, our gov docs librarian is changing call numbers -only- on serials holdings (going back decades). She has commented that being able to access the call number without an extra step would make her life easier, in the course of a long project. Because she's performing this specific action over and over, I do see how going through "Show Volume/Copy details" every time would be a usability issue.
However, I agree that it would be preferable if this were a workstation or user setting, as the need/desire for such an action would vary, depending on one's workflow.
In a related note that may be something previously reported: I've had a lot of questions about the "text" next to the call number in the staff client. When people first see this, they tend to think that choosing that will allow them to edit the text of the call number or copy notes.
