Wishlist: Account renewal tracking

Bug Description

We have many libraries that want to be able to count patron account renewals in addition to new account registrations. Right now there is no way to track when/if a user's account privilege term has been extended/updated. It would be handy to have the means of tracking on that information in the user summary and having it available for reporting.

Anna,

Are you envisioning this as a value that is incremented anytime the
expire_date is changed or something more elaborate like a new data source
that tracks past expire dates?

Personally, I would think a single date that's updated would be fine. We only have one value stored and updated for the other dates captured in the summary. Not sure what benefit there would be big picture to having a whole set of renewal dates on hand, whereas having the most recent expiry update would fill the main request I've been getting from the libraries.

Am open to other views, of course, though.

Since the expiration date also changes, unless a staff member sets it back, when the patron profile is changed, it would be nice to have a list of both the past expiration date and the previous profile.

Changed in evergreen:
importance: Undecided → Wishlist

We have requests for these types of reports every so often. Libraries are surprised to know it is not possible (or would be an estimate based on date last updated and expiration date).

Changed in evergreen:
status: New → Confirmed
