Wishlist - Use Check In to return reservations

We would like to be able to use Checkin for Reserved items return —ie. interchangeably with Reservations Return, in that Checkin would also clear the Reserved item and make it returned.

Use Case = Resources are all returned to the same spot = circulation desk. Jane Booker the circulation clerk has no way to tell if an item was “checked out” or “picked up”. She would like to be able to scan the item barcode into the check in screen

-> If the item was “checked out” this would check in the item
-> If the item was “picked up” this would return the reservation

This is high on our wishlist for the evergreen reservation system - being able to check-in "picked up" reserved items rather than using the "Return" screen would make our desk staff very happy.

We are not currently using the booking module, but this option would certainly make it easier to implement by eliminating potential confusion among circulation staff.
