Bug Description

web staff client 3.0.3

In webclient, inconsistencies with opening in new tab:

From item status, clicking on the title opens a new tab (Hooray!)

From check-in screen, clicking on the title opens that OPAC record in the current tab, this is especially problematic because if you try to go back, the checkin list is cleared. (Item status list is retained if you do other operations then go back.)

Also, I am (almost) positive that a couple weeks ago, I was able to right click open in a new tab on different actions and it would open that action in a new tab, now it just opens the home page. It does not make a difference whether the line box is checked or not. As one example, from the checkin screen, select an item, then click actions, hover over retrieve last patron, right click open in a new tab. I swear I was able to do that previously but can't now. Really an important function to be able to open something in a different tab (especially when the list clears if you try to go back to it--probably 2 separate issues there.)

We have also had these issues and can confirm especially the last one - right click and open in a new tab opens the Home page instead of whatever action you were clicking on. Ours was reported from Item Status screen, so it's definitely more than one screen.

I can confirm that these are still issues in 3.1.

The biggest issue for us is the inability to open "Retrieve Last Patron Who Circulated Item" in a new tab from the checkout screen. If you open the menu and right click on "Retrieve Last Patron Who Circulated Item" you have the option to open in a new tab. Selecting this opens a new tab but it just shows the web client homepage, same as reported by Debbie.

In the check in screen we discovered that a middle click (click of the roller ball) on the title or barcode allows us to open the catalogue and item status respectively in new tabs. (The middle click doesn't work for Retrieve Last Patron).

I can confirm the problem in 3.3.2

Our staff also find this to be a serious issue, especially the inability to open the new tab for "Retrieve Last Patron Who Circulated Item" from the checkout screen.

I have summarized the behavior for various patron account screens and Check In screens in a table (table is shared for editing so you can add your remarks), see https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1HDL-AyO-s1sIOaMSJSZuva_9i4nz9WWgyjPSmu7RBsQ/edit?usp=sharing

As a general rule, our staff prefer to have links in the staff client open in new tabs.
