Bug Description

v3.0.3
Web Client

When a patron's card is scanned, there is no alert if they are under 18. This would be useful information for Circulation Workers.

Current Behavior: No alert on patron's account for juvenile status.
Expected Behavior: Some form of notice of juvenile status.

Proposed solution would be to add an Angular filter to check the age in the template, then add a div below the birthdate stating if the patron is a minor based on an ngIf check of the of the age.

Hi Sam!

How does this fit in with the juvenile flag on the patron's record. It's not something we use much here, but my understanding is that libraries can set an age threshold in the Library Settings Editor. A script run through a cron job will then remove that juvenile flag once the patron hits that age threshold. I think it would be better for the feature to utilize the flag instead of checking for the age on the patron's account.

I also think there would should be some kind of library setting to enable this alert. I think there are libraries that will not want to see an alert.

Or maybe, instead of an alert, would it be sufficient to show the juvenile status in that summary sidebar on the left?

I think using the juvenile flag is a much better solution, as is having the notice be part of the administrative settings. And placing the notice in the summary sidebar would be consistent with current behavior, which makes a note of "juvenile" below the patron's name.

This is a duplicate of https://bugs.launchpad.net/evergreen/+bug/1722380 but I'll mark that one as a duplicate since this one has more discussion.

In the xul client, purple text saying "(Juvenile)" appeared below the patron name along with alerts, notes, etc.

My preference would be to use the Juvenile flag and have "(Juvenile)" appear after or under the dob if the juvenile flag is checked.

Sorry, I didn't read comment #1 closely enough and misunderstood the kind of alert being suggested. If it were just something added to the display, I don't think an additional setting is required. I was envisioning more of a popup alert that staff needed to click through. Sorry for the noise!

No worries! I've been having issues with precise language for the past week, and was thinking in terms of "Bootstrap lets you format an a div element with an alert class to make it stand out" and later realized "That really sounds like I mean a Javascript alert."

I'll look for the Juvenile flag and see if I can find a good place to put the notification in the summary template.
