Continuing from bug # 1411699, there was a commit in http://git.evergreen-ils.org/?p=working/Evergreen.git;a=shortlog;h=refs/heads/user/dbs/nodojo_acjs that replaces the Dojo in acjs for added content with vanilla Javascript that would be worth trying out.
